File info: Properties of matter in physics refer to the physical characteristics and behaviors exhibited by different types of substances. These properties can be classified into two main categories: intrinsic properties and extrinsic properties.

1. Intrinsic Properties:
- Mass: It is a measure of the amount of matter present in an object. It remains constant regardless of the location of the object.
- Volume: It refers to the amount of space occupied by an object. It can be measured in terms of cubic units.
- Density: It is the ratio of mass to volume and describes how tightly packed the particles of a substance are.
- Temperature: It measures the level of thermal energy in a substance. It determines the direction of heat flow between objects in contact.
- Melting Point: It is the temperature at which a solid substance changes into a liquid state.
- Boiling Point: It is the temperature at which a liquid substance changes into a gaseous state.
- Specific Heat Capacity: It measures the amount of heat energy required to change the temperature of a substance.

2. Extrinsic Properties:
- Color: It describes the visual appearance of an object due to the selective absorption and reflection of light.
- Odor: It refers to the characteristic smell associated with certain substances.
- Texture: It describes the feel or surface quality of an object, such as smooth, rough, or sticky.
- Transparency: It indicates the ability of a substance to transmit light.
- Conductivity: It measures the ability of a material to conduct heat or electricity.
- Magnetism: It describes the ability of a substance to attract or repel other magnetic materials.
- Elasticity: It refers to the ability of a material to regain its original shape after being stretched or deformed.

These properties play a crucial role in understanding and studying the behavior of matter under different conditions and in various physical processes.
