File info: Past Simple Tense
Definition
Past Simple Tense is a verb tense used to talk about actions that happened and were completed in the past. It is used to talk about events that happened in the past, but it is not used to talk about events that are still happening.
Format
To form Past Simple Tense, you add -ed to the infinitive form of the verb. For example, the infinitive form of the verb "to walk" is "walk," so the past simple form is "walked."
There are a few exceptions to this rule. For example, the past simple form of the verb "to be" is "was" for the first person singular (I) and "were" for the second and third person singular (he, she, it) and plural (we, you, they).
